Mistakes to Avoid When Designing a Website

If you have a business website and you expect it to earn you bread and butter, then you have got to have a professional looking website. Think of your website as an offline shop in a mall. There will be so, so many competitors. How will you grab the attention of your market? Well, the same goes for your website. Your website is also your shop and you have millions of competitors on the internet. So, how can you ensure that your potential buyers stay on your site, check out your products and services, start believing in you as reliable and then finally make a purchase?

Well, to do this, you need to create a professional designed website that will tell your buyers that you are authentic and you will always provide quality products and services. If they find you nice and reliable, they will indeed buy from you instead of any of your competitors. To achieve this, you have got to analyze the most important factors that can make or break a website. You may then determine which parts will need enhancement and what sort of things should be totally removed or avoided.

Let’s first talk about logo design. You must have your logo on your website, period. There is no exception. Your logo gives your business an identity and having a professionally designed logo will help you increase your credibility and effectiveness. You may have to hire a professional logo designer, because all web designers are not good at creating logos. After all, it’s not an easy task even though it’s a small design but it requires extensive reason. The reason is that your potential buyers get to see your logo as well as the logos of your competitors. They look for professionalism and reliability. Hence, having a professionally designed logo on your website will increase your credibility.

Now, the next thing that you have got to analyze is the formatting and placement of content and images. Does your site look neat, clean and professional? Or, does it look like a busy and messy fish market where visitors just feel confused where to go and what to see? You certainly don’t want to give this sort of feeling to your website visitors. What you need to do is to create a nice and cool atmosphere for your visitors. Ensure that the images are not placed on pages haphazardly. Give a decent look to your website for smooth browsing experience.

What font size and font style you choose also has an impact on your visitors in terms of how much time they spend on your site. If your site has small font size and barely readable font style, then it is 100% guaranteed that your visitors won’t spend more than a few seconds on your website. So, try out different fonts and see which one looks good to you. If a particular style and size is easily readable and looks good to you as well, then the chances are that it will look good to your visitors as well.

So, avoid these website design mistakes and you will be able to retain your visitors easily.  Please contact eTargeting if you need any help with designing your website.
